Being a member of Bishop Auckland Conservatives means that you have joined the most open and democratic political party in Britain. Nationally, members vote to choose the leader of the Conservative Party. They select our candidates for council and parliamentary elections, and can step forward themselves to be considered as candidates. Furthermore, they can attend Conservative Party Conference, and contribute to policy-making through the Conservative Policy Forum.
Supporters of the party are also welcome to come to our social events, including garden parties, coffee mornings and dinners.
Any person living in the United Kingdom is eligible to join the Conservative Party. Applicants are not required to be registered voters or UK nationals. There is no upper or lower age limit on membership, although children under the age of 15 cannot be enrolled as full voting members.
Winning support for the Conservative Party depends on the support and generosity of our members. Engaging in political campaigns and making a difference to the way the country is governed is an immensely rewarding experience. Through our social and speaker events, we also make sure that we have fun together and give members an opportunity to meet senior political figures. We hope that you want to get involved, and will consider joining the association.
